Responsive Websites: DoctorcallFounded by Dr Charles Levinson in 1989, Doctorcall was the UK’s first visiting doctor service, and the company has built an outstanding reputation for itself in the intervening decades. Today, they are one of the UK’s leading medical firms, and this – together with the fact that Doctorcall count celebrated medical expert Dr Christian Jessen among their staff – meant that this was a high-profile project for the Designer Websites team. As usual, we rose to the challenge, and we feel that Doctorcall’s new website is a perfect digital representation of its company, suggesting outstanding professionalism and a wealth of medical knowledge while remaining extremely user-friendly, both in terms of design and functionality.
Mobile-Friendly DesignA sizeable percentage of Doctorcall’s online traffic comes from smartphones and other mobile devices, and it was clear from the outset that this brief would require a fully responsive, mobile-friendly website. The finished website is capable of adapting to the screen on which it is viewed, meaning that doctorcall.co.uk is as compatible with mobile phones as with desktop computers and laptops; patients can now book appointments, make purchases, and contact Doctorcall no matter where they are! Booking Appointments Online – Qinec IntegrationThe Doctorcall website’s primary aim is to drive bookings, and we wanted to make it as easy as possible for clients to arrange their medical appointments online. To achieve this, our web developers built a bespoke booking system that fully integrates with Qinec (their clinic appointment system) and allows each user to select a location, a treatment, and a preferred date; furthermore, the secure payment system (powered by Sage Pay) means that clients can pay for their appointment at time of booking. Ecommerce FeaturesDoctorcall sell a variety of different medical products, including home testing kits, vaccination vouchers, and anti-aging serums. The company were keen to make these items available through the new website, and so we used our knowledge of ecommerce development to build a bespoke shopping cart system that makes it easy to purchase Doctorcall’s various products at the click of a mouse (or, indeed, the touch of a smartphone screen!)
