My previous website (prior to Designer Websites) looked great, was practical because I was able to manage the content myself and my host was really efficient. One big drawback was that it just didn't perform well in search engines. It's all well and good having a great looking site, but if very few customers find it, it's nothing but an expensive luxury. So, mindful of this, I was spending a huge amount of my precious advertising budget on getting my website to a decent position on Google via AdWords. This was effective in terms of the number of enquiries it generated, but also very costly.
However, I was really reluctant to take, for a number of reasons, what I considered to be a leap of faith to change my website designer/host. I was concerned that gaining higher first page positions in Google would lead to a compromise on either the visual or the flexibility of maintaining my site. Given the nature of my business with new designs almost every week, I was no more prepared to compromise on the visual than I was the ability to add new images to my site.
Anyway, after much deliberation, leap I did. The consequent result is that the visual of my website is even better than it was before, I still maintain relevant parts of my website myself via a bespoke written CMS, plus Designer Websites are seriously superbly efficient. Not only did I NOT have to compromise, I gained additional functionality which makes the day to day administration of my business easier. However, the biggest pleasure of all, is that I am receiving more enquiries now (without paying a penny for AdWords) than I ever received with my previous website (fully supported with Google AdWords). Year on year, customers enquiring as a result of my website are up 200% due to the high Google position my site achieves.
